Well feral cats and pound puppies…I have some NEWS for you! September 3rd is the official launch date for “smellabell” comic! That’s right. I have been working secretlyish on a webcomic for quite a while now. I am an avid webcomics reader. I love the webcomics community, they are the funniest, dorkiest people ever. I fit right in. For a long time I felt like my art was just not good enough to make into a comic. I felt like it would be something that people lol’d at because it was so lame, not because I make witty jokes. So, I put it off…I let it stew in a pot in the back of my brain. Then I started having more and more people ask me why I wasn’t doing a comic about my hilarious 3 year old daughter, Ella. I could publish a book of all her hilarious quotes, she is one of those little kids who truly does say the darnedest things. I draw her a lot too, she inspires me. So, I started playing with the idea a bit, and with some really sweet words of encouragement from some webcomics who I REALLY look up to and admire as artists/writers and people in general…I decided to do it. Why not? What’s the worst that can happen? It sucks, you say so, I stop doing it. Ah well, at least I would have tried right? I’d love love love to have a real excuse to go to all the cons…since now it would just be an insane expense that I can’t even dream about affording. Not that I plan on making money off “smellabell” LOL….I’m realistic people. I just want your reader loyalty. I could care less if moola comes in because of this. It’s totally to feed my creative passions and inspire me to work more, and harder.

I have been drawing comics secretly since I was a little kid. I used to draw a comic about my dog’s alter ego. I wish I still had some of it to share with you. I’m sure it was awful. :) At the same time, looking back I think….this is something I’ve always enjoyed. I’ve always put it away in my head because I was sort of raised to believe that art and music careers don’t exist, and you might as well stop kidding yourself if you think you’re ever gonna do something like that and have people enjoy it. So, with that always looming, I procrastinated on attempting to do something I actually LOVE doing. Now, I’m getting older I realize more and more everyday, how short our time is here and I want to do something I like with my time. I certainly hope you’ll enjoy my project. I hope you’ll share it if you do!

I must say if you have a hard time motivating, or finding time for the things you love – like drawing, then I am somewhat sure that you will find the blog of Michael Nobbs not only inspirational, but informational as well. He has a fun blog and a great podcast. His posts have helped me out on a gloomy day or two. He has some great books to check out as well! Give his blog a looksee. :)

What have I been working on you ask? Well…a few things.. for one I’ve been working on a mixed media piece with a woman drinking coffee. You’re all shocked by me making a reference to coffee, I know – :). I don’t have a digicam right now so I cannot take pictures of the projects I’m working on or of the products I’ve made for my etsy shop. So..until I save up the moolas for that — no pixors from me. I have been also working on some mixed media ACEO’s that I hope to be able to share with you all soon. In addition to those projects, I am working on a webcomic. Yes…that’s right…I will be releasing a webcomic. It’s going to be called “Smellabell” and it will be comics created from quotes from my 3 y/o daughter Ella. I will definitely be promoting it here when I’m ready to release it! Until then, I’m keeping myself rather busy with kids home on summer vacation, drawing, and having ever rampant insomnia.

What a month June is shaping up to be. I normally don’t look forward to June so much, seeing as how its my birth month and all. Yesterday I found out that June is host to many things. For one, June is National Scare A Child Month. (well, according to R.L. Stine on Twitter anyways…) It was also declared Gay Pride Month by Obama. It’s also National Safety Month, Adopt-A-Cat Month, and National Fruit and Vegetable Month. It is also the month in my family when there is a birthday like every other day. We also have family reunion every year the last weekend in June. I am finishing my first year of college in June! It will also be the start of my break from school and pursuing my art, and working on things for my shop. I hope to get re-in-touch with some of the great creative and positive people I have met these past couple years. More soon…really!

Hello borketeers, sorry it’s been so long since I’ve poke my head up and said anything. College swallows you whole and only briefly hints at coughing you back up until it’s had its fair share of soaking you in highly erosive acid. Then you sign up for another term like some sick junky. I don’t get it. I really don’t. I want to learn art, art techniques, art history. I am sick of learning crap that won’t make a difference in my life. For example, having to take a P.E. class to get my Associates Degree in Art…absurd. I have barely made it to my Tai Chi class this term, due to illness, and due to other classes that require much more of my time. Spring term is ahead tho mateys and I got me one of those Advisors. Yeah, in college, having an advisor in your specified field is a G O O D thing. I will be taking Mixed Media/Illustration, Introduction to metal smithing jewelry making, History of Art 1600-1800, and an online Math class. Three artsy classes vs. one annoying math class sounds good to me. Here’s hoping it works out with our new schedule. I don’t have babysitters or money for one, so I’m kind of depending on friends to just be nice and volunteer….that makes me sound like such a lamer. Anyways, I am going to be taking summer term off to work on my art. To use the skills I’ve accrued in three terms of college and see what becomes of it. I also intend on sewing up some more goodies for the borked planet etsy shop! Planning on more giveaways and new products!

Tonight is a rare night. I have no homework due tomorrow. I have nothing that *has* to be done tonight. I am going to get in my fat pants, watch crap on tv or maybe throw on a movie, cuddle my dogs and cat, and ignore the world! College. It’s what you to do yourself when you hate yourself but want to be a better person. hahaha (my sarcastic sick humor doesn’t come off well in text, i know this, yet i continue on..)
